RE: Political Snippets
• It is generally accepted that competition in our free economic man motive society leads inevitably to a better product from everyone.
• When KU had monopolistic control of the Board of Regents, and Dr. Cramer Reed was developing a Medical School for WSU, the potential competition with KU for state dollars was not to be tolerated; and so one day in what can only be described as improper self interest greed, the KU Board of Regents simply transferred WSU’s developing Medical School to KU; and thereafter proudly posted a Jay Hawk sign on the top of the building; and had WSU signs taken down on the turnpike exits to Wichita, and replaced with KU Jay Hawk signs. Apparently, by this process, KU now owned Wichita.
• Now it is, tiring of the administrative oversight and pain of continual travel to Wichita, the KU folks want to affiliate the Wichita branch of the KU medical school, not mind you with the KU hospital in Kansas City, but with the state of Missouri’s hospital in Kansas City.
• Since the KU folks apparently want to rid them selves of the burden of the Wichita medical school, we would ask the South Central Kansas Legislative Delegation to require KU and the now S.B. 345 de-packed Board of Regents to correct the previous packed Board of Regents’ injustice, finally do the right thing, and transfer WSU’s developing Medical School, back to WSU; so that it can be administered in the best interests of the people of Wichita and Wichita hospitals.
• Further the Shocker Black & Golds saith not, and leave the issue and our interests to the collective minds of our South Central Kansas Legislative Delegation representatives.
